The West Orange Community House Boys and Girls Club is partnering with the American Lung Association and the Horizon Foundation of New Jersey to implement a Breathe Easier with Asthma Management (BEAM) Program in our after school programs. The Asthma Awareness Program is designed to help children without Asthma build awareness of the health condition.
The West Orange Community House Boys and Girls Club will also be conducting the Open Airways for Schools (OAS) program for those children with Asthma. This program is designed to help children with Asthma learn the skills on how to better manage their condition. In New Jersey, Asthma is a serious health condition. Over 188,000 children are currently affected by Asthma. They plan to facilitate the Asthma Awareness Program and OAS at the Gregory and Washington After School Programs for kids in kindergarten through the fifth grade in early 2016.
We want to thank the American Lung Association and the Horizon Foundation of New Jersey for providing the resources and funding to our organization so that we can bring awareness of the chronic illness to the children in our programs.
